Can you help?

It is the season of spring and summer fairs for Porridge and Rice, and the charity urgently needs people to help to man the stands. Porridge and Rice will have a range of products to sell, making balloon animals, and running a petting zoo.

Can you help on the charity stand at an event?

Geoff, volunteer at 79

Geoff Warren, 79 years old, spent a month in Nairobi helping at Porridge and Rice partner schools. A retired counselor, he was well received by the schools, where he was made a most welcome contribution to school life.

Geoff proved what Porridge and Rice have always said - no-one is too old to make a valuable contribution as a volunteer.

Thank you Geoff for spending time with Porridge and Rice partner schools in Kenya.

You can make a donation to Porridge and Rice every time you shop on-line at NO COST to yourself, by starting your purchase with The Giving Machine which is home to a wide range of shops including John Lewis, Groupon, Waitrose, Amazon, Ebay, Jersey Plants Direct, GoCompare, and many more.

PaR Charity Shop on Amazon

Porridge and Rice recently opened a charity shop on Amazon to sell goods to raise money for the charity. The charity cannot afford to set up a shop on the High Street. Amazon provides an affordable alternative with the potential to earn money to support the work of the charity in the Nairobi slums.

Visit the PaR Charity Shop on-line to buy a charity t-shirt or any of the other items on sale.

Brigitte, Emma & Grace

On her first trip to Kenya, Brigitte is accompanied by Emma to Lizpal school, a Porridge and Rice partner school in Ngando, in the Nairobi slums.

At Lizpal, Brigitte was welcomed by Grace, the deputy head of Lizpal, in the usual warm, friendly as is the habit in Kenya.

Breakfast Uji

Mugs of sour uji are served at breakfast at all Porridge and Rice partner schools in the Nairobi slums.

Uji is not only hot, tasty and filling but high in carbohydrates providing the children with the energy the need to work hard at school, as well as Potassium, Iron, and Vitamin C.

Visit the PaR Facebook page for more pictures and details about the work done by PaR.
