On 9 September, 12 people walked 25 km from Putney Bridge to Southwark Park to raise money for Porridge and Rice. Three people
started later so are not in this group photo sadly. They did an equally sterling job for Porridge and Rice and raised a sizeable amount.
The route, started in Bishops Park, Fulham, next to to Putney Bridge at
9am. It followed the Thames Path through the heart of London and crossing 16 of London's historic bridges with a rest stop at 12-13km before
heading onto the finish line in Southwark.

Emma quickly took the lead in the Porridge and Rice team. Accompanied by Theresa, she went striding rapidly across London.
|
|
Martin, Ken and Marshall stopped to enjoy the scenery and for a well deserved rest on one of the 16 bridges of the walk.

|
|
There was food and drink at the half way mark on the walk. Matt, Jay, and Shreya took the opportunity to rest and build up their energy.
To their shame, they were passed by members of the team at least 3 times their age!

As the end got closer, each marker was greater with a mixture of relief and enthusiasm. Sharon, Marshall and Ken posed at the 20km mark with
Martin taking the photo.
|
|
At only 1 km from the end, Martin took a photo of Sharon and Ken leaning against a lamp post for support while Marshall looks on rather bemused.

Theresa and Emma (right) arrived at the finish first, and celebrated with a glass of bubbly. They put in strong performance. Well done, ladies.
Everyone who completed the walk was presented with a medal a glass of bubbly as they crossed the finish line.
Sharon (bottom left) displays her medal with pride. Well done Sharon, fact, well done to everyone who completed the walk.
Walkers Ken, Matt, Sharon, and Theresa (bottom right) relax with a soft drink at the end of the walk.
It was a good event which raised over £2000 for Porridge and Rice. Thank you to all 12 participants for your support.
